Brussels Airlines is gearing up for the summer holidays, traditions and peak season of importance for the aviation industry. With more than 1.2 million passengers expected in July and August 2024, the Belgian airline is expanding its fleet capacity and service offering to ensure a smooth operation.
Popular destinations excluding European islands include Zakynthos, Corfu and Rhodes, as well as the Canary Islands of Gran Canaria, Mallorca and Lanzarote. Brussels Airlines also saw high demand for city breaks based in milder climates such as Stockholm and Gothenburg in Sweden.
International long-haul flights to North America, including connections to New York JFK and Washington DC, are also in high demand. Holiday destinations such as Hurghada in Egypt and Antalya in Turkey are also very popular.
To cope with the rush, Brussels Airlines has expanded its aircraft fleet and hired additional staff, including 180 cabin crew members, 64 pilots, 40 passenger service assistants and 70 summer students for ground staff. Improvements to the chatbot on the website as well as the introduction of a pre-seating robot within the Lufthansa Group are intended to provide passengers with an improved travel experience.
CEO Tilman Reinshagen stressed the importance of the team’s preparation and commitment to ensure reliable operations during the busy summer months. Brussels Airlines is also responding to the increasing demand for premium services by introducing Business Class on all flights to popular holiday destinations.
