With the D-AEEA, the Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings has taken delivery of its first Airbus A321neo. This is marketed as « Mallorca-Airbus ». This machine can carry up to 232 people, making it the largest model in the fleet at the moment.

The company has been on the market under the Eurowings brand for around 30 years. According to its own information, the newcomer is the largest medium-haul jet that has ever been registered on the AOC. The A321neo machines are to be used primarily in the direction of Palma de Mallorca. The aircraft is also used selectively on high-demand routes to Greece. The Balearic Island is the destination that will be visited most frequently in the summer of 2023. They offer 400 rotations per week at peak times.

“Our incoming bookings are clear: people want to go on vacation again. « With the A321neo, our guests fly in what is currently the most modern, most efficient and quietest medium-haul jet in the world, » says Jens Bischof, CEO of Eurowings.

The carrier has ordered a total of eight 180-seat A320neos and five 232-seat A321neos. A total of seven A320neos have been flown in so far, with another expected in 2024. Eurowings is expected to receive a further three Airbus A321neos in the course of 2023.

Immediately after landing, D-AEEA was officially handed over to Eurowings Technik. The technical operation in Düsseldorf with around 120 employees will carry out the rest of the upgrade of the aircraft in the next few weeks. The first commercial flight with passengers is expected to take place in August to Mallorca.
