This weekend, the area around Neubuilding Castle, which is located in Vienna’s eleventh district, is all about barbecue, as the annual “Vienna BBQ Days” have taken place.
Neubuilding Castle is one of the lesser-known historical buildings in the Austrian capital. But for an event that mainly focuses on fresh grilled food, this is definitely an advantage, because the spacious area offered the exhibitors plenty of space to prepare delicacies.
Represented were catering establishments that sold all kinds of grilled food from their stands and food trucks, as well as manufacturers of grills, knives, etc., who demonstrated their products live. Accordingly, there was usually the opportunity to be shown what a sausage or cutlet from a possible new desired grill tastes like, for example.
The event was rounded off with numerous specialist lectures spread over the two days of the event. The visitors were able to find out everything from the Thermomix to wellness food to the best way to prepare meat for the grill. The experts will then be available for technical discussions and, of course, to pass on one or two professional tips.
The highlight of the Vienna BBQ Days were various competitions that, among other things, focused on sausage. Visitors had the opportunity to taste the participants’ creations for five euros per portion. The admission price included a drink that could be picked up at the so-called VIP counter.
Another area of the event took place in the interior of Neubuilding Castle. The processing takes place via a small specialty fair. An exclusive spice that could round off the next barbecue at home, for example, was available for purchase. In terms of price, the exhibitors’ offerings varied greatly in all areas. For example, there were burgers for 9.50 euros. Depending on the type, beer was offered between 4.50 euros and 5.20 euros.
All in all, the Vienna Grill Days are a successful event that should be celebrated and served in June and mid-September. The weather was reasonably favorable on two days, allowing visitors to enjoy what might be the last rays of sunshine without a thick winter jacket.
